ListMate ("we," "our," or "us") operates the ListMate mobile application and website. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our service.

Information We Collect

Authentication Information (Google & Apple): We use Google and Apple single sign-on (SSO) to log you in securely without needing to create or manage another password. When you sign in, we only collect your name and email address from Google or Apple to associate your account with your household. We absolutely never share your grocery lists, planned visits, or any other in-app data back with Google or Apple. The connection is strictly one-way for login purposes only.

Household Data: Grocery lists, store names, items, and visit history that you create within the app. This data is visible only to members of your household.

Usage Data & Approximate Location: We use your IP address (via request headers) to determine your approximate location (e.g., your country). This helps us apply appropriate regional settings and compliance. We also use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may use the device advertising ID for ad serving, frequency capping, and measurement. No personal analytics or tracking pixels are used beyond AdMob's standard ad delivery.

Ad Personalization & Opt-Out

You may revoke ad personalization at any time:

• Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
• iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → Turn off Personalized Ads
• Web: Visit https://optout.aboutads.info

Even after opting out, you may still see ads, but they will not be based on your interests.

How We Use Your Data

• To provide and maintain the grocery list service
• To associate you with your household's shared lists
• To send household invitation emails (via SendGrid, with tracking disabled)
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party

Data Storage

Your data is stored on secure servers (Render, PostgreSQL) with access restricted to the application layer. Authentication is handled entirely through Google and Apple Sign-In — we never see or store your password.

AI Features & Data Privacy

ListMate uses artificial intelligence (powered by Google Gemini models) for features like Shopping Analytics Insights and the Chef AI Recipe Generator. We prioritize your privacy when using these features:

• No Personal Information Shared: We do not send your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information to the AI models.
• Anonymized Data Only: Only anonymized grocery lists, top purchased items, and store visit counts are sent to generate insights.
• No Training Use: The data we send via the Gemini API is explicitly not used to train Google's models, in accordance with Google's API data privacy terms.

Your Rights

• You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us
• You can leave a household to revoke data visibility from other members
• You can request a copy of your data

Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. To do so, send an email to [email protected] with subject "Account Deletion Request" and we will delete your data within 7 business days. You may also delete your data directly from the app by visiting Settings → Delete Account.
